Note: The first point for redressal of complaints is the bank itself and that complainants may approach the Banking Ombudsman only if the complaint is not resolved at the bank level within a month.

The Banking Ombudsman Scheme 2006 of Reserve Bank of India came into effect from 1st January 2006. The prime objective of the scheme is in strengthening and improving the relationship between Customer and Banker by providing quick and inexpensive redressal of customer complaints relating to deficiencies in Banking services. Customer may rely on the Banking Ombudsman to facilitate speedy settlement of their grievances.
