128-bit Secured Socket layer (SSL)
ING employs 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL), which is one of the best
encryption technologies commercially available and most commonly used by
large-scale online merchants, banks, and brokerages worldwide. Encryption is a
method of scrambling information to protect its transmission across the
Internet. The encryption of data provides a strong degree of protection against
tampering while data is moving through the Internet. All online sessions
between the customer and the bank are protected by up to 128-bit encryption,
which best protects customer information against disclosure to third parties.
|
Verisign Digital Certification
ING website is certified by Verisign Digital Certificate. Digital Certificates
provide the user with Third Party (Certification Authority) evidence of the
server's authenticity. This safeguards users from trusting unauthorized sites
and allows the session to be encrypted. Verisign is an internationally
acclaimed Certification Authority and large-scale online merchants, banks and
brokerages use their certificates worldwide. You will see a "closed lock" icon
on the right most bottom corner of the logged in section. Clicking on that will
allow you to see the Verisign Certificate authenticating the site.
|
Secured Login Page
The login page on which User ID and Password is entered by the Customers is
also secured.
|
Locking Of Password
Online access to your account is automatically locked if you enter in an
incorrect password for certain number of attempts.
|
Two levels of Password for Financial Transactions
Funds Transfers and Bill Payment can be executed through Internet Banking only
by use of transaction password in addition to the password used for logging in.
All main transactional facilities on the website cannot be done without
entering transactional password. Such a password is machine generated and is
known only to the Customer.
|
General Tips to Customers
Also on the website, we provide
tips to customers for online security. These tips are provided so as to
ensure internet security at Customers' end (from the place internet is
accessed). We request customers to download latest security patches from their
software providers (browser providers), to access internet banking from offices
or at home.
|
Other features
After logging to the website, you will find several measures taken by us (like
session expiry) keeping internet security in view. All these features ensure
that customer data with Bank is safe and its privacy is ensured. Similarly
Online session automatically expires to prevent unauthorized access to your
account if you keep your browser inactive for a certain amount of time. You
will require to login again to transact.

Browser Compatibility
Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.XX and above
|
Encryption
Encryption is currently the most effective way to securely transmit data over
the Internet. Web browsers use encryption to enable safe online communications
and transactions between you and the Web sites you interact with. The stronger
the level of encryption your Web browser uses, the more difficult it is for
unauthorized individuals to intercept your online activities. The two most
common levels of encryption used by Web browsers today, are
40-bit and 128-bit.
We recommend that you use a Web browser that supports
128-bit encryption for all your Internet activities. In fact, you will
be required to use a 128-bit browser to access many of our secure Web sites
like Online Banking and Online Trading. If one of our secure Web sites requires
an encryption level that your browser does not support, you will likely receive
an error message when you attempt to login. If this occurs, we recommend that
you download a more recent version of your browser. Download the most recent
version of
Microsoft Internet Explorer or
Netscape Navigator
|
Secure Login
For logging in into the website you will have to provide the user id and
password which has been provided to you.The web page on which you are required
to input these details is also a secure page. Your password should be kept
secret at all times because it is used to help verify your identity before you
are permitted access to your accounts and information. If you are unable to
provide the correct user id and password, you will not be granted access.
When you login successfully, your Web browser will establish a secure SSL
connection between your computer and our Web servers. This will allow you to
communicate with us privately and to conduct online transactions safely. To
make sure your browser has established a secure connection, look for a security
symbol located at the bottom left or right hand corner of your browser. You may
also check the address bar of your browser. If the Web site address starts with
"https://" rather than the standard "http://", then the session is secured.
|
Timed Logout
To further protect against unauthorized access to your accounts, our systems
are designed to automatically terminate a secure online session if extended
inactivity is detected. If your session terminates you will have to login again
to continue your activities.
|
Identity Protection
ING is NOT liable for any loss arising from your sharing of your User Ids,
passwords, cards, card number or PIN with anyone, NOR from their consequent
unauthorized use.
Please do not reply/respond to any communication, including email, SMS or phone
call informing you that your banking or other accounts will be closed unless
you provide your personal or banking information by responding to such
communication or other email address/website/mobile number/phone number, or any
communication requiring furnishing of any information personal or otherwise,
and representing to be from ING.
We would invite you to report or inform ING about all such instances to our
ccu@ingvysyabank.com.
Avoid sending or furnishing personal and financial information on email. Also
prior to providing any information (financial or personal) on a website, verify
the bonafide of the website, its address and of the owners/operators of such
websites. Make sure that the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) that appears in the
"address" or "location" box on your browser window is the one you wish to
access.
Set a screensaver password for the system, while browsing.

Personal Firewall
Any computer or device connected to the Internet that is not properly protected
is vulnerable to a variety of malicious Internet intrusions and attacks. This
applies to all cable modem, digital subscribe line (DSL) and dial-up users.
However, cable modem and DSL users are particularly vulnerable because both
connection methods provide "always-on" connection capability. The likelihood of
a malicious individual entering your computer increases significantly the
longer your computer is on and connected to the Internet.
A personal firewall
will help protect you from intrusion. Firewalls create a barrier between your
computer and the rest of the Internet. A firewall can be a hardware device, a
software application or a combination of the two. Firewalls can prevent
malicious attacks and block certain types of data from entering your computer
or private network. They can also be set up to alert you if anyone tries to
access your system.
|
Passwords
Passwords are used by computer systems and Web sites to verify who you are.
When you login to a secure Web site using a password, you are granted
appropriate access to available services and resources. If someone else knows
or guesses your password, they can access the same resources. In other words,
whatever you can do when you are logged into a site, they can do too!
Always choose unique passwords that include letters and numbers. Longer
passwords that have eight or more characters and mix letters, numbers and
special characters are much more difficult to figure out than shorter, more
straightforward passwords. You should also avoid choosing passwords that are
obvious, such as family names, birthdays and telephone numbers that might be
easy for others to figure out.
Change your Password (Login and Transaction) after your first login and
thereafter at least once in a month.
Please create and maintain different passwords for Login and for
Transactions. This provides additional security for financial transactions
through Internet Banking.
Avoid using the same password for multiple applications or
Internet services. You should use a unique password for each Web site and
purpose.
Your password should be complex and difficult for others to
guess. Use letters, numbers and special characters [such as !,@, #,$, %, ^,
&,* (, )] in your passwords. These increase the security of the passwords.
Don't use passwords that are obvious, like your name, names of
family members, your address, or any other information that a thief might find
in your purse or wallet.
Try to avoid passwords that are real words.
If your login IDs or passwords automatically appear in the
sign-in page of a secure Web site, you should disable the auto complete
function to increase the security of your information.
If you are accessing any website (including ingvysyabank.com)
from cyber cafe, any shared computer or from a computer other than that of your
own, please change your passwords after such use from your own PC at workplace
or at house. It is very important to do so especially when you have entered
your transaction password from such shared computer or cyber cafe computer.
Change these Passwords from your own PC at workplace or at your residence.
Never share your passwords with others, including family
members. Do not disclose your Internet Banking password to anybody, even to an
ING employee.
Please destroy the PIN mailer after memorizing it and/or change
such PIN if the option is available.

Software Updates
The software you use and the Internet itself can impact the security of your
online activities. Therefore, you should watch for security bulletins that warn
you about various security "holes" or "bugs" that may impact the software and
Web browser you are using. It is very important to check the Web sites of your
operating system and Web browser vendors for software "patches" and "updates".
It is also a good practice to regularly check our Security Bulletins section
for news on applicable software "patches" and "updates". Some operating systems
and software can be configured to automatically check for new updates.
To access current Microsoft Security Updates, please visit their
Security Updates Web site.
|
Sign-Off / Log-Off
When you are finished conducting online transactions or visiting secure Web
sites, remember to properly Sign-Off / log-off and close your browser. This
will ensure that any information that is cached or stored on your computer or
in your browser is erased. This will prevent others from being able to view
this information later.
|
Unwanted Software
Downloading free software, subscribing to free online services, clicking on
deceptive pop-up boxes or simply visiting an interesting Web site may be
putting your privacy and security at risk. Unwanted software is often bundled
with free online offerings and is becoming an increasing threat to privacy and
security.

About e-mail Fraud
Beware of fraudulent e-mails requesting online banking security details!
Internet Banking is a safe way to manage your money. However, there are
Internet fraudsters around who will try to gain access to your accounts by
e-mailing you and prompting you to disclose your on-line banking details to
them. Banks will never send e-mails that ask for confidential information. If
you receive an e-mail requesting your Internet Banking details, you should not
respond.
How do fraudulent e-mails work?
Typically you will receive an e-mail claiming to be from your bank, either
requesting your security details (perhaps as part of an update or confirmation
process) or asking you to follow a link to a site where you will be encouraged
to provide a range of information such as your credit card number, personal
identification number (PIN), passwords or personal information, such as
mother's maiden name.
Clicking on the link then takes you to a fake website, designed to look like
that of your bank, but operated by the fraudster.
Fraudulent e-mails and websites can be very convincing and fraudsters are
continually inventing new approaches to get you to divulge your security
details.
Treat all unsolicited emails with caution and never click on links from such
emails and enter any personal information.
If you've replied to a suspicious e-mail and provided personal or sensitive
information about your account please contact us immediately.
To ensure a legitimate and safe sign on, always enter ING's web site
